Lee Roy Selmon's story combines family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. First, his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on a Eufala farm. Two football. He is one of the three brothers that participated in the football team of Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. He received a third scholarship in 1975 and designated an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned his degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week during his time at college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. He also began an entrepreneurial career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Representative at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6'2 inches. While he was in college, he commanded the 1975 team. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the Associate Director of Sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
